Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Little Things in the NFL?

Little things are the quiet statistics that swing games without making highlights: how often a team's plays succeed, how often its quarterback is pressured, where its drives start and how many special teams penalties it takes. These rankings compare all 32 teams on eight of them.

How is the Little Things score calculated?

For each of the eight stats, a team's result is compared with the league average and measured in standard deviations, with the sign flipped when lower is better. The Overall score is the average across all eight, and each phase score is the average across that phase's stats. Above zero is better than average.
