× IE Pitcher Game Scores
(also called True Pitcher Performance Scores) tell how well a starting pitcher truly performed based on the results most within his control. The scores are normalized in order to compare them to the rest of the league. An IE Game Score over 50 is above average. It is rare to achieve a score of 100, but possible.
Formula: ((Strikeouts + 1/2 (Other PitcherPositives/PA)) * ((Strikeouts + 1/2 (Other PitcherPositives)) + CheapHits - TotalEarnedRuns
Glossary:
Pitcher Positives:
Any out recorded by the pitcher that is not well-hit or due to something out of his control such as an outfielder throwing out a runner at home, or a catcher back-picking a runner. Well-hit balls in play are not Pitcher Positives. Reaching on Error (but not well-hit) is a Pitcher Positive, as is Fielder’s Choice with no out on the play. Strikeouts are weighted at their full value (1); other outs are scaled by one half.
BF: Batters faced
Cheap Hits: A weak-contact base hit or extra-base hit that is rated 1 or 2 on the IE Well-hit Scale of 1-9.
ER: Earned Runs
